Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

TypeWord ("the App") collects the following information to provide its services.

Language settings: native language, source language, target language
Wordlist data: list names, saved words, and AI-generated definitions
Device language: checked once for initial UI language (not sent to servers)
API usage logs: lookup counts, response times, and costs (for service operations)

2. Information We Do Not Collect

Personal identifiers such as name, email, or phone number
Location data
Contacts, photos, camera, or microphone access
Advertising or tracking identifiers

3. Where Data Is Stored

Wordlists and vocabulary data are stored locally on your device (SQLite) and are not automatically synced to any server. Language settings are kept in on-device storage.

When you look up a word, the request is processed through our server (Supabase) for AI processing. Results may be stored in an anonymous cache to improve service quality.

4. Third-Party Services

The App uses the following external services for word lookup functionality.

OpenAI: Only the searched word and language pair are sent. No user identification is transmitted.
Supabase: Provides authentication, database, and API hosting.
Google AdMob: Displays advertisements. AdMob may collect device information for ad personalization. See Google's Privacy Policy.
Sentry: Collects anonymous crash reports to improve app stability. No personal data is included.

5. Text-to-Speech (TTS)

The pronunciation feature uses your device's built-in TTS engine. No data is sent to external servers for this feature.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

All wordlist data is stored on your device and will be deleted when you uninstall the app. You can also delete all data at any time using the "Reset" option in Settings.

7. Children's Privacy

This App does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 14 years of age.

8. Changes to This Policy

If this Privacy Policy is updated, we will notify you through an in-app notice prior to the changes taking effect.
